Montessori Children’s House of Shady Oaks is seeking a Primary Guide to begin teaching immediately. An AMI diploma is required of all applicants and experience is preferred. Founded in 1983, Montessori Children’s House of Shady Oaks has one toddler and three primary classes. Our school is recognized as an AMI accredited school. The school is located in Redding, California. Redding is a growing community of approximately 90,000 people located at the far north end of the Sacramento Valley, close to Mt. Shasta, Mt. History

            The school was founded in 1983 by Marion Darancette. Marion trained at the AMI Institute in Mexico City, and received her Montessori diploma in 1974 when she was almost fifty years old. She taught for over 10 years before founding her own school. The school moved into its present location in 1986.

  • Licensed by the State of California for 84 children
  • AMI recognized and NAEYC accredited
  • 1 toddler class with 12 two year olds
  • 3 primary classes each with 24 children ages 3 through kindergarten (one of the primary classes is an all-day Montessori program)
  • Primary classes offer only 5 day a week attendance with a variety of hours
  • Academic year program with optional summer program
  • Hours are 7 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday though Friday
  • Each classroom has a full complement of Montessori materials
  • Located in Redding, California, population approximately 90,000, at the far north end of the Sacramento Valley.

Guide Position

  • All the current guides at our school are AMI trained and each has over 10 years experience
  • Guides have an active role in choosing an assistant
  • Parent support group assists with grants for conferences or refresher courses

Guide Requirements

  • Successful completion of AMI primary course
  • All guides must satisfy the California licensing requirements for education and pass a criminal background clearance. All international applicants must hold a valid passport and the appropriate visa to allow them to work in the United States.
