Jenny Williams, Montessori Primary Guide

Hours: 7:15 AM to 3:15 PM

Jenny is married and the step-mom of a nine year old daughter and fourteen year old son. Jenny has been working at Montessori Children’s House since 1993. Prior to Montessori Jenny worked for two years at Prince and Princesses Preschool. Jenny received her AMI Montessori Diploma in 2003 from the St. Louis Montessori Institute. She also has an AA degree in Early Childhood studies from Shasta College. Jenny also knows sign language and frequently has opportunities to incorporate it into her class. One of her hobbies is riding quads. She also enjoys spending time with family and attends a lot of family gatherings.

Why Montessori? “When I first started here I found it to be very helpful to me. I wish I had the opportunity all the children are getting; I don’t think it would have been such a struggle for me. Now this is where my heart and soul are. I have been able to grow and blossom over the years as I hope the children do.”

Danielle Portue, Assistant Teacher

Hours: 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM

Dani grew up in the Bay Area with a large extended family. She moved to Redding in 2011 with her fiancé and plans to be married in February 2012. She attended Cuesta College and Cal State Fresno where she earned a BA Degree in liberal studies with an emphasis in early childhood education. Dani’s hobbies include golf, swimming, hiking and playing softball. Family dinners, watching movies, and playing with her two black lab puppies are also favorite pastimes.

Why Montessori? “I was a student at a Montessori school from 3 to 5 years old. Those were some of the most memorable years I have had in all my years of schooling. My parents were firm believers in the Montessori method, because they knew how much it would prepare me for not only Kindergarten through college, but also in every aspect of daily life. When graduating college and choosing a career path in the teaching field, my decision was easy. I chose Montessori because I love to share the same wonderful, fun, and beneficial experience that I was so fortunate to have. I enjoy helping children develop a positive attitude toward school and self-confidence in their learning.”
